Azerbaijani FM meets Bangladeshi counterpart
Baku, June 11 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov has met a delegation led by Foreign Minister of Bangladesh Dipu Moni.
Elmar Mammadyarov praised the Bangladeshi delegation`s visit to Azerbaijan, saying he believes it will contribute to developing the bilateral ties.
The FM said Azerbaijan and Bangladesh enjoyed high level political dialogue, stressing the importance of developing the cooperation in other areas. He also noted there was wide potential for cooperation between the two countries in economic, energy, tourism, humanitarian and cultural fields.
Mammadyarov stressed the necessity of strengthening a legal framework, including the signing of agreements on avoidance of double taxation and protection of investments in order to pave the way for broader economic cooperation.
Bangladeshi FM Dipu Moni said she was pleased to pay a visit to Azerbaijan. The Bangladeshi FM said that her country was interested in expanding bilateral cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Dipu Moni said that preparations are underway to signing 11 bilateral documents, three of which will be inked during the visit. She also noted Bangladesh was keen to develop cooperation with Azerbaijan in areas such as migration, construction and shipbuilding.
Touching on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Moni underlined that Bangladesh supports the territorial integrity and just position of Azerbaijan.
Minister Mammadyarov thanked the Bangladeshi government for its support. He stressed the need for mutual cooperation within international organizations.
The Ministers also exchanged views on the establishment of cooperation between the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan and Bangladeshi Oil Company.
Following the meeting, the two Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Political Consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan and Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Bangladesh.
