Azerbaijani FM meets Chairman of House of Representatives of Uruguayan Parliament
Baku, May 22 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijan`s Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov has today met Chairman of the House of Representatives of the Uruguayan Parliament Herman Cardoso.
Mr. Mammadyarov said the visit would open a new stage in development of relations between the two countries, adding Azerbaijan was interested in expanding ties with Southern American countries, particularly with Uruguay.
He also noted there were wide opportunities for cooperation in the fields of energy, construction and architecture.
On the role of inter-parliamentary relations in developing cooperation between the two countries, the minister said the activities of the friendship groups in both parliaments would contribute to further deepening the ties.
Cardoso said Uruguay was interested in boosting relations with Azerbaijan.
He also stressed the importance of strengthening a legislative framework for cooperation.
Cardoso said the visit helped him and his delegation learn more about the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
They exchanged views on cooperation within international organizations, and explored ways of developing relations in cultural, humanitarian and sport areas.
