AZERBAIJANI FM MEETS DELEGATION OF NATO PA SUB-COMMITTEE
Azerbaijan`s Foreign Minister Elmar Mammadyarov met Thursday with visiting chairman of the Sub-Committee on Democratic Governance of the Civil Dimension Committee of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Tchetin Kazak and his accompanying delegation.
Kazak said their visit is aimed at getting familiarized with situation in Azerbaijan as well as geopolitical developments in the South Caucasus.
Mammadyarov said boosting cooperation with NATO and Euroatlantic structures is one of Azerbaijan`s foreign policy priorities.
Mammadyarov touched upon the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines, and added his country is interested in joining the Nabucco pipeline project.
Speaking on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, Mammadyarov said such disputes impede the development and integration of regional countries.
The Azeri Foreign Minister noted the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict can be solved only in accordance with the principle of his country`s territorial integrity.
Elmar Mammadyarov also responded to a number of questions from the NATO PA sub-committee delegation, including energy projects Azerbaijan participates in, UN Security Council resolutions on Nagorno-Karabakh and the role of the European Union and NATO in settlement of the conflict.
