AZERBAIJANI-LITHUANIAN BUSINESS FORUM DUE IN BAKU
Azerbaijani-Lithuanian Business Forum today has taken place in the hotel Europe. Addressing the forum participants, Azerbaijani Minister of Economic Development Heydar Babayev underlined that GDP in Azerbaijan grew by 25% last year, and 11% in non-oil sector. In 2007, about US $ 8 bln was invested in the country’s economy, of which 70% falls to the foreign investments.
On Azerbaijani-Lithuanian economic ties, Mr. Babayev underlined that volume of the commodity turnover constituted US $ 17 mln in 2007- threefold higher than that in 2006. Minister hoped that Lithuania would become reliable partner in Azerbaijan’s integration into the Europeans structures.
Lithuanian Prime Minister Gediminas Kirkilas noted that the rapidly developing Azerbaijani-Lithuanian relations give hope for expansion of the mutual cooperation in numerous areas. He underscored that Lithuania and Azerbaijan share the same position in many international issues.
The representatives of the business circles of both countries also discussed the cooperation in agriculture, transport, humanitarian and other areas.
