Azerbaijan`s Minister of Labour and Social Protection of the Population Fuzuli Alakbarov met Friday with visiting Lithuanian Minister of Social Security and Labour Vilia Blinkiaviciute and her accompanying delegation.

Minister Alakbarov told of the accomplishments achieved in implementing huge projects in Azerbaijan.

On the success of the oil strategy, Alakbarov said that the main purpose is to convert oil revenues into the “human capital”.

F. Alakbarov said he puts a special emphasis on expanding cooperation in the labour and social security fields with Lithuania, adding that this visit will be an important step towards development of bilateral ties.

Mrs. Blinkiaviciute said her country monitors socio-economic development in Azerbaijan. She told of the Lithuania`s public policy towards social security of the population. She pointed out that her country pays a special attention to cooperation with Azerbaijan in the social sphere.

Issues discussed at the meeting included establishment of ties between the social security ministries of Lithuania and Azerbaijan, and signing of the relevant agreement.
