Azerbaijani model of tolerance discussed in European Parliament

Baku, May 16 (AZERTAC). An event titled “Azerbaijani model of tolerance” has been held at the European Parliament.

According to the Azerbaijan State Committee for Work with Religious Organizations, the event, organized by the European Azerbaijan Society and supported by the Committee, brought together European parliamentarians.

Addressing the event, head of the foreign relations department of the Committee Nijat Mammadli spoke of the historic roots and current situation of religious tolerance, as well as state-religion relations in Azerbaijan.

He stressed the deep culture of Azerbaijani people stands on the foundation of the Azerbaijani model of tolerance, which he said “could be an example for the world”.

The European parliamentarians hailed Azerbaijani government’s efforts towards the sphere.

Members of the European Parliament Bulgarian Evgeni Kirilov and Estonian Kristiina Ojuland stressed the need for popularization of Azerbaijani model of tolerance in the entire world.
