Azerbaijani National leader Heydar Aliyev`s memory honored in Saint Petersburg
Baku, May (AZERTAC). Employees of the Consulate General of Azerbaijan in St. Petersburg and representatives of Azerbaijani diaspora have laid flowers at a bas-relief of national leader Heydar Aliyev on the occasion of his 90th jubilee.
The bas-relief of Heydar Aliyev was installed on a house in the Gorokhov Street in 2005, where Heydar Aliyev attended High KGB School in 1949-1950s.
Every year Azerbaijanis living in St. Petersburg celebrate the national leader`s birthday by paying tribute to him in front of his bas-relief.
Great leader Heydar Aliyev`s memory was honored with a minute of silence.
The consulate general Elshad Gulamov spoke of the life, activities and the role of the world famous politician in establishing and strengthening today`s Azerbaijan. The diplomat said President Ilham Aliyev was successfully continuing the national leader`s political course.
Other speakers, including Idris Gahramanov, chairman of public organization “Nakhchivan”, noted that national leader Heydar Aliyev paid much attention to Azerbaijanis living abroad, and praised his role in consolidation of Azerbaijani diaspora in different countries across the world.
The Azerbaijani Consulate General in St. Petersburg, regional office of All-Russia Azerbaijanis Congress and other public organizations carry out a series of celebrative events on the occasion of the 90th jubilee of the national leader.
