Azerbaijani parliament passes amnesty act

Baku, May 7 (AZERTAC). Azerbaijani parliament has today passed an amnesty act on the eve of the 90th jubilee of national leader Heydar Aliyev.

Submitted by Azerbaijan’s first lady, president of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, MP Mehriban Aliyeva, the amnesty act is expected to be applied to nearly 9,000 people. Over 2,000 of them will be released from prison.

The act was passed with 114 votes in favor.
