Azerbaijani President receives Biritish MP, Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy VIDEO
Baku, June 4 (AZERTAC). President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has today received a British delegation led by member of the parliament, Prime Ministerial Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan, Charles Hendry.
President Ilham Aliyev thanked for the letter of Prime Minister David Cameron he addressed to the oil-gas conference which started in Baku Tuesday. The Head of State stressed the importance of the fact that stong partnership relations between Azerbaijan and the UK, as well as BP`s long-term activity in Azerbaijan were reflected in the letter. President Ilham Aliyev recalled his meeting with David Cameron held in London last year and discussions on cooperation in the energy sector. The President expressed hope that the energy cooperation would further continue. The Head of State noted Charles Hendry`s visit to Azerbaijan had created good opportunities for the exchange of views on development of relationship between the two countries.
Charles Hendry said the British government was interested in expansion of cooperation with Azerbaijan. He described 2013 as an important year in terms of transportation of Azerbaijan`s gas to Europe.
They also exchanged views on development of the Azerbaijan-UK cooperation in economic, trade, energy and other areas.
