Baku hosts UNDP RBEC seminar on Partnership and Resource Mobilization
Baku, July 12 (AZERTAC). UN Development Program Regional Bureau for Europe and the CIS has organized a workshop on Partnership and Resource Mobilization in Baku.
The workshop was aimed at drawing up a UNDP financial sustainability and productive plan to ensure effective activities of UNDP offices in the Eastern Europe and CIS countries in order to improve living conditions of peoples.
UNDP Deputy Regional Director Haoling Xu hailed Azerbaijan`s success in the field of poverty reduction, adding “the Azerbaijani government`s cooperation with the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is an excellent example for the regional countries”.
“Providing financial support, Azerbaijan proves that it is a good partner of the UNDP. Last years, the Azerbaijani government has significantly increased its role in the activity of the UNDP,” Haoling Xu said.
The UNDP Deputy Regional Director expressed confidence Azerbaijan is ready for UNDP`s new strategy, adding “this is the reason that we decided to arrange this workshop in Baku”.
Addressing the event, deputy foreign minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev said Azerbaijan has already turned from a recipient country to a donor country status in the UNDP system.
He underlined the adoption of the “Azerbaijan - 2020: Vision into the Future” Development Concept will mark a new development stage for the country.
Mammadguliyev expressed confidence Azerbaijan`s cooperation with UN and its institutions would continued expanding.
