BAKU MARINE PASSENGER TERMINAL UNDER RECONSTRUCTION

The overhaul of the passenger terminal will be finished by the end of 2004, AzerTAj correspondent was told at the Baku International Sea Trade Port. Considering the ever-increasing passenger traffic between Caspian littoral states, the terminal is being reconstructed to meet modern standards.

After its launching, the ship “Dolphin” of the Azerbaijan State Caspian Shipping Company will be carrying passengers en route Baku-Lankaran. In accordance with the “State Program for social-economic development of regions of Azerbaijan Republic”, it will contribute to development of Lankaran subtropical region as the resort and tourism center. In the near future, it is scheduled to widen maritime routes Baku-Astrakhan, Baku-Mahachkala, Baku-Aktau, Baku-Turkenbashi and direct links with Iranian ports at the Caspian Sea.
