BAKU MUSEUM CENTER HOSTS ROUND-TABLE DISCUSSION
Female members of the governmental, women’s non-governmental Organizations (NGO) and coalitions of Azerbaijan as well as representatives of Russia, Kazakhstan, Swiss, Germany, France and Holland gathered at the Baku Museum Center on Saturday for the round-table discussion on theme “Peace For You, For Me, For All of Us”.
Commissioner of Human Rights of Azerbaijan Mrs. Elmira Suleymanova, First Vice President of State Oil Company of Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) Khoshbakht Yusifzade, member of Swiss parliament Vermot-Mangold Ruth-Gaby, executive employee on public relations of Social Information Department of UN Gulshen Pashayeva, Head of State Committee on Family, Women and Children’s Problems Ms. Hijran Huseynova and other speakers stressed the importance of the UN-declared International Peace Day and women’s role in settlement of conflicts and ensuring peace in the world. They spoke of the Armenia’s aggressive policy against Azerbaijan and its severe consequences for local civilians, in particular, women. The participants were informed that nearly 420 thousand out of 1 million Azerbaijani refugees and IDPs were women. Out of 4844 people taken captive or missing as a result of Armenian aggression, 321 were women and 45 children. The discussions was also held about the procedures of decision-making in peace keeping issues.
