‘Belarus backs political resolution of Nagorno-Karabakh dispute’
Baku, June 12 (AZERTAC). Belarus backs political resolution of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Foreign Minister of Belarus Vladimir Makei stated at a forum dealing with the 20th anniversary of the Azerbaijan-Belarus diplomatic relations.
"We want that a mutually acceptable political solution could be found as part of the Minsk Group initiated by Belarus in 90s. We support the consultations with involvement of third countries and other nations," he said.
On the upcoming visit of President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko to Azerbaijan, Makei said that the visit is scheduled for autumn but exact dates will be set through diplomatic channels. According to him, Lukashenko gave instructions to prepare some promising trade and economic projects.
"These projects will further and expand our bilateral trade and economic ties," he said.
The Minister noted that Belarus is not going to borrow from Azerbaijan.
The Minister underlined that Azerbaijan helped Belarus by providing a loan when the country faced financial difficulties. Belarus appreciates this and will always be a reliable partner for Azerbaijan.
"Last year, the trade turnover exceeded USD220 million and this year`s figures suggest that first quarter results are ahead of schedule," he said.
