Belarus, China forge stronger ties in industry, humanitarian affairs

Industrial cooperation and humanitarian ties - contacts between Belarus and China have been actively developing and expanding for 34 years, Chargé d'Affaires ad Interim of the People’s Republic of China in Belarus Sun Yanping spoke about the areas of close interaction between the two countries in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel, according to BelTA.
20 January marked the 34th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Belarus and China. Cooperation between the nations is expanding in every direction. “Over the past 34 years, China-Belarus ties have seen vigorous development. Especially in recent years, under the strategic guidance of Chinese Chairman Xi Jinping and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko, bilateral relations have reached the highest level of all-weather, comprehensive strategic partnership. The Year of Cooperation between China and Belarus in science, technology, and innovation has concluded successfully. Outstanding results have been achieved in joint research, platform development, and implementation of research outcomes,” the Chinese representative said.
She added that the intergovernmental agreement between the two countries on trade, services, and investments officially enters into force in 2026. According to the Chinese Chargé d'Affaires ad Interim in Belarus, this will further unlock the potential of bilateral trade and investment cooperation, bringing even greater benefits to enterprises and people in both countries. “The closest project is the industrial cooperation project, announced in Beijing last November,” Sun Yanping said.
She emphasized that the Chinese embassy in Belarus is already prepared to actively work and facilitate contacts between the two countries. “This project offers opportunities for enterprises, scientific and technical institutions, and universities to collaborate on key issues,” she shared.
One such area is cooperation in the humanitarian sector. “Humanitarian cooperation between our countries is also developing dynamically. In recent years, student exchanges have been growing steadily. Currently, around 12,000 Chinese students are studying in Belarus. Last year, at the invitation of President Aleksandr Lukashenko, more than 100 Chinese teenagers visited the Zubrenok children’s center. The first China-Belarus Youth Forum also took place. Events like Tea for World Harmony, a festive Spring Festival celebration, were held in Minsk. Such events attract many Belarusians,” the Chinese representative added.
