Blinken arrives in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on unannounced 2-day visit

US Secretary of State Antony Blinken on Wednesday arrived in Ukraine’s capital Kyiv on an unannounced visit, Anadolu Agency reports citing US media.

Blinken’s two-day visit marks his fourth visit to the country since the start of the Russia-Ukraine war in February last year.

He is expected to announce more than $1 billion in additional funding, The Washington Post reported.

The report said that Blinken arrived in Ukraine in the morning and met with diplomats and personnel at the US Embassy in Kyiv.

Blinken is also scheduled to meet civil society organizations in order to discuss anti-corruption efforts, as well as attend a wreath-laying ceremony along with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmytro Kuleba.

Meanwhile, Ukrainian news agency RBC-Ukraine reported that traffic in Kyiv was partially blocked since morning, which it said is a procedural requirement during the visit of international leaders or delegations to the capital.
