BULGARIAN PRIME MINISTER VISITS ALLEY OF MARTYRS
Bulgarian delegation led by Prime Minister Sergey Stanishev visited Monday the Alley of Martyrs in Baku to pay respect to brave sons of Azerbaijan who died for the country’s independence and territorial integrity.
Stanishev also laid a wreath at the “Eternal Fire” monument.
The Bulgarian delegation was accompanied by Azerbaijani deputy foreign minister Khalaf Khalafov and other senior officials.
In a brief interview with journalists, Sergey Stanishev said it is high time Bulgaria and Azerbaijan intensify their friendly relations.
”Bulgaria is already a member of the European Union, and we must develop not only our political, but also economic relations”, Stanishev noted.
He said this will be a huge boost to the strengthening of Azerbaijan-EU cooperation under the new neighborhood policy.
Stanishev said he believes his talks in Baku will be a success.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, the Bulgarian Premier said the conflicting sides should continue their efforts towards finding a peaceful solution.
