CANADIAN MAGAZINE PUBLISHES ARTICLE ABOUT AZERBAIJAN
An influential Canadian magazine, Diplomat and International Canada, has published an article titled “Stability increases as Azerbaijan’s energy wealth flows outward”, which was prepared by Azerbaijan`s Embassy in Canada.
The article said “despite complicated geo-political situation 10 years ago, Azerbaijan became regional leader during President Heydar Aliyev’s tenure”.
The article stressed that average annual growth of GDP in Azerbaijan was 12% in the last five years, and in 2005 this figure increased to 26%.
The exploitation of Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil and Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipelines, and inauguration of Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway under President Ilham Aliyev’s leadership were also touched upon in the article.
According to authors, Azerbaijan became an important country in terms of making investments, and its energy reserves today attract investors from Europe, Asia and USA.
The article also noted that global regional projects had brought Azerbaijan and European Union closer, and underlined the country`s efforts towards EuroAtlantic integration.
The article also touched on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan, and described the dispute`s settlement as
Azerbaijan’s highest priority.
The authors said that Azerbaijan`s economic reforms and industrial projects are “very useful for the region”, and support from the international community, including Canada, is very important in this issue.
