Cardiac surgery department set up at Ganja branch of Central Clinical Hospital
Ganja, November 5 (AZERTAC). A cardiac surgery department has been set up at the Ganja department of the Central Clinical Hospital. The branch also hosted the first open heart surgery.
The government of Azerbaijan is taking successful measures to improve the quality of healthcare services.
As a result of President Ilham Aliyev’s attention to the industry, state-of-the-art health facilities have opened across the country.
Built five years ago as Ganja city Diagnostic Center, the facility then turned into the Ganja branch of the Central Clinical Hospital which now houses urology, general surgery, traumatology, neo-surgery, radiology, modern general resuscitation, cardiac surgery, cardiovascular, minimally invasive surgery and first aid departments, as well as modern laboratories.
The hospital is capable of carrying out all types of cardiac surgeries, including coronary, off-pump heart, as well as operations in aortic arch and peripheral vessels.
The staff of the hospital includes 150 specialized doctors, as well as surgeons, who studied and practiced in Baku and abroad.
In an interview with AZERTAC, Kamran Musayev, Chief Doctor of Central Clinical Hospital, Chairman of Azerbaijan Society of Cardiovascular Surgery, praised the current state of cardiac surgery in the country. He lauded the attention of the Head of State to development of healthcare in the country, particularly creating excellent conditions at medical centers. He noted Central Clinical Hospital now is also known in the country’s regions.

“The ultimate goal is to provide the patients with the cardiac and invasive surgery, and provide them with round-the-clock services.
“After major overhaul the 100-bed hospital serves patients as a multi-profile medical center. All medical procedures carried out in the Baku-based Central Clinical Hospital now are also available at the Ganja branch of the hospital.”
“The open heart surgeries have been performed in Ganja for two days, and all operations have been successful.”
“Fourteen out of 100 patients who came to us have undergone successful surgeries.”
Musayev thanked Head of Special Medical Service of the President of Azerbaijan Jamil Aliyev for his “tremendous contribution” to establishing the cardiac and minimally invasive surgery departments at the Ganja branch.
