CEC CHIEF MEETS VENICE COMMISSION SECRETARY
Chairman of the Central Election Commission of Azerbaijan Mazahir Panahov met Monday with visiting the Secretary of the Venice Commission of the Council of Europe Gianni Buquicchio.
CEC chairman noted that cooperation with the Venice Commission had been important and effective since 2003. He said he is satisfied with the cooperation to train trainers and prepare some normative documents.
Buquicchio hailed cooperation with the Azerbaijan`s election institutions, adding Venice Commission is ready to provide any assistance to them.
Panahov noted CEC had done much work to improve working conditions of election commissions, verify voters` lists and educate members of precinct and constituency election commissions.
He noted CEC set itself a goal to pick out employees of the secretariats and members of the precinct election commission in order to make them trainers. The event will be held on to this end. Trainers will hold trainings for members of election commissions and assist CEC trainers team.
