CENTRAL ELECTION COMMISSION OPENS TRAINING COURSES FOR ELECTION OFFICERS
The Central Election Commission (CEC) of Azerbaijan in collaboration with the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Azerbaijan Republic opened one-week training courses for members of election commissions to improve their professional skills.
CEC Chairman Mazahir Panakhov said at a ceremony on this occasion that the courses to be attended by chairs of 125 district election commissions will include lectures on exercising voting rights granted to citizens by the Constitution of the Republic, electoral practice in developed countries, nomination process for candidates and other topics. He expressed hope the courses would contribute to more democratic, transparent and fair conduct of elections in the country.
“All the work in this field is to achieve the only goal - absolutely free and transparent ensuring Azerbaijani citizens’ right to elect and be elected,” said Head of the President Administration’s Department of Socio-political Affairs Ali Hasanov.
He started the courses with the lecture on the theme “Basics of participation of political parties and blocs in elections (referendum).”
The training course alumni will be given certificate on qualification.
