CHAIRMAN OF AZERBAIJAN CONSTITUTIONAL COURT MEETS HEAD OF TURKISH SUPREME COURT

Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Azerbaijan Farhad Abdullayev met Tuesday with visiting Head of the Supreme Court of Turkey Osman Arslan.

Abdullayev stressed the development of friendship and brotherhood ties between Azerbaijan and Turkey.

He said Azerbaijan`s Constitutional Court pays special attention to enhancement of cooperation with constitutional courts of developed countries.

Abdullayev recalled a Memorandum of Understanding signed on May 11, 2007, between Constitutional Courts of Azerbaijan and Turkey.

He said the document provides for the protection of human rights and freedoms, cooperation in the field of creation of legal and democratic state, as well as mutual exchange of experience and organization of trainings for lawyers.

Head of the Turkish Supreme Court Osman Arslan expressed his confidence that his visit to Azerbaijan will boost cooperation between the two countries` judicial authorities.

Ambassador of Turkey to Azerbaijan Huseyin Avni Karslioglu attended the meeting.
