CHAIRMAN OF CAUCASIAN MUSLIMS’ OFFICE MEETS RUSSIAN DEPUTY PREMIER
Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims’ Office Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade met with visiting Russia`s Deputy Prime Minister, Chief of Staff for the Cabinet of Ministers Sergey Naryshkin.
Pashazade said Azerbaijan is a tolerant country where representatives of various religions live in peace.
On the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict over Nagorno-Karabakh, Allahshukur Pashazade said Armenians, who occupied Azerbaijani lands, tried to assure the international community that there is confrontation between the religions in the dispute.
Pashazade said Azerbaijan managed to prevent Armenians` plans thanks to efforts of Moscow and Russian Patriarch Aleksiy II.
Sergey Naryshkin praised the fact that in Azerbaijan, representatives of various religious faiths live in peace and cooperation.
Naryshkin congratulated Pashazade on his recent “Friendhsip” award bestowed on him by the Russian Federation.
The Russian Deputy Prime Minister expressed his satisfaction with the fact Russia and Azerbaijan are jointly fighting against international terrorism.
Head of the Religious Community of Mountain Jews of Azerbaijan Semyon Ikhilov and head of Baku and All-Caspian Orthodox Eparchy, father Alexander, were also present at the meeting.
