CHAIRMAN OF NAKHCHIVAN SUPREME MAJLIS MEETS IRANIAN PRESIDENT
Chairman of the Supreme Majlis (Parliament) of the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic Vasif Talibov met with Iran`s President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad on Tuesday as part of his two-day trip to the Iranian capital, AZERTAC`s Tehran based correspondent said.
Talibov touched upon ongoing discussions between the two countries concerning new joint economic projects.
Ahmadinejad underlined Iran is keen to boost relations with Azerbaijan.
The Iranian leader stressed his country supports Azerbaijan`s stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict with Armenia, saying the dispute must be solved in accordance with the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.
Later the same day, Vasif Talibov met with the Iranian President`s advisor, head of the country`s Islamic Culture and Relations Organization Mahdi Mostafavi.
Mostafavi said there is a good potential to expand cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Iran.
Talibov in turn said Azerbaijan is the place where representatives of all religious confessions live in peace and harmony.
He also touched upon work done to preserve Islamic values in the country, including reconstruction of Ashabi-Kahf sanctuary in Nakhchivan.
