CICA publishes first 2025 issue of “Voice of Asia: CICA Digest”

Baku, May 23, AZERTAC
The Republic of Azerbaijan, currently chairing the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), has published the first 2025 issue of “Voice of Asia: CICA Digest” — the organization’s official journal.
This issue highlights President Ilham Aliyev’s strategic vision during Azerbaijan’s CICA chairmanship, focusing on advancing pan-Asian dialogue, institutional innovation, and sustainable regional development. Building on this vision, the journal emphasizes key areas such as digital development, intercultural dialogue, environmental protection, active youth engagement, and humanitarian demining as essential for recovery and stability in post-conflict regions.
In the foreword, Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov outlines Azerbaijan’s initiatives to strengthen CICA’s institutional framework and transform it into a fully-fledged international organization. He underscores strategic priorities centered on “A Stronger CICA: Connectivity, Digitalization, and Sustainable Development in Asia.”
The journal features the inaugural meeting of the Coordinating Council of the CICA Partnership Network of Leading Universities (PNLU), a new platform chaired by ADA University. This council aims to enhance cooperation among academic institutions and foster youth participation across member states.
Under Azerbaijan’s leadership, CICA held the first 2025 meeting of its Business Council Board. Attendees discussed plans for the upcoming Business Forum and an exhibition showcasing products from small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The discussions prioritized SME development, promoting women’s economic participation, and advancing the green economy agenda.
The digest also covers the inaugural meeting of the CICA Senior Officials Committee in Baku. Member states endorsed Azerbaijan’s chairmanship priorities, adopted the 2025 Action Plan for the CICA Think Tank Forum, and considered proposals to establish a CICA Women’s Council and appoint a second Deputy Secretary General.
Additionally, the publication reports on a meeting held in Astana with ambassadors from CICA member states. Azerbaijan presented its core objectives, including enhancing CICA’s international legal status, preparing the adoption of the CICA Charter, and promoting institutional development.
The journal’s cover highlights Azerbaijan’s rich tourism potential.
