Contamination found in Sea of Galilee fish
Baku, May 21, AZERTAC
Israel’s Ministry of Health reported that, as part of the ongoing investigation into the fish mortality incident in the Sea of Galilee, tests conducted revealed findings indicating the presence of a bacterium of the Lactococcus garvieae type, which is primarily known as a cause of disease in fish, TPS-IL reported.
The Ministry of Health recommends that the public avoid contact with fish that appear sick or dead and should not pick them up. In case of contact, wash hands thoroughly with soap and water.
Also, do not consume fish that has not been purchased from licensed businesses, and make sure to consume it after it is fully cooked. The Ministry of Health updates that there are no restrictions on bathing in the Sea of Galilee or on recreational activities in the water.
