DAY OF INDEPENDENCE OF POLAND MARKED IN BAKU
After the national anthems of the Azerbaijan Republic and the Republic of Poland were performed, the plenipotentiary ambassador of Poland in Azerbaijan Kshishtof Kraevski warmly welcomed the visitors. He particularly said:
‘The Azerbaijan Republic is an important friendly country for us. I very highly estimate our mutual relations, - the Ambassador noted. - This year, the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has visited Poland twice - in March, with official visit, and in May when took part in the forum of the Council of Europe. The president of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski emphasized, that mutual relations of Poland with Azerbaijan always were at high level. It is confident that these high mutual relations will develop. Poland is a member of the NATO and the European Union, and also supports integration of Azerbaijan into Europe. We properly estimate efforts of Azerbaijan in building a democratic state and participation of each citizen in public and political life of the country. We are pleased with economic successes of your country. I wish Azerbaijan of successes”, he underlined.
The ambassador has noted that much unites our peoples. The Polish architects have constructed many fine buildings in the streets of Baku in the beginning of the last century. Today, we were at opening of a memorial tomb of Polish engineer Paul Pototzki who has huge contributions in development of the petroleum industry of Azerbaijan. Having the chance, we revere memory of all our well-known fellow countrymen. We think much of the kind relation to Poland and the Poles in your country”.
Vice-chairman of Milli Majlis Ziyafet Askerov has conveyed congratulations of the President of the Azerbaijan Republic Ilham Aliyev on Day of Independence of the Republic of Poland, and also a wish of happiness and prosperity to the Polish people.
As is known, diplomatic relations between Poland and Azerbaijan have been established in 1992. Poland was one of the first that recognized independence of Azerbaijan, - has emphasized Z. Askerov.
“We attach great importance to development of ties with Poland which is a member of the European Union, - he told. “Our relations always were close. In 1997, nationwide leader Heydar Aliyev has visited Poland with official visit, in 1999 - the President of Poland Alexander Kwasniewski was in our country. President Ilham Aliyev visited Poland in 2004 and 2005. All this testifies to development of our relations. In many respects, positions of Poland and our country coincide, we closely cooperate in many international structures”, Mr. Askerov underlined.
