DISCUSSIONS ON “EDUCATION FOR ESPECIALLY REQUIRING CHILDREN: EXPERIENCE AND PROSPECTS ”
As was stated, the key objective of the discussions in which educators from local and international NGOs, renowned teachers took part, is acquaintance by open discussions of the national pedagogical public and representatives of the third sector with the international experience in the field of education of especially requiring children.
Opening the workshop, minister of education Misir Mardanov updated the participants on the work carried out in our country connected to study and education of especially requiring children. He informed that now for children from this category 14 boarding schools and 6 special schools function. In these establishments, 1496 pedagogical workers are engaged in training and education of 5535 pupils.
The Minister has reminded also of problems existing in this area and expressed confidence that the international organizations would assist their elimination.
Director on educational programs of the Open Society Institute – Assistance Foundation Elmina Kazimzadeh spoke of value of studying and application of the international experience under the new approach to especially requiring children.
The spouse of the US ambassador in Baku Lesley Harnish informed about carrying out together with Mehriban Khanum Aliyeva the discussions connected to needs of especially requiring children, also emphasized importance of rendering of special attention and care to children from this category.
Then, representatives of US Council on unusual children and the Ukrainian fund of the program "Step-by-step” informed on the work conducted in their countries connected to training and education of especially requiring children, and the saved up experience.
