EASA lifts ban on Pakistan International Airlines flights: Aviation Minister
Islamabad, Hilal Ahmad, November 29, AZERTAC
The European Union Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) has lifted a ban on the flights of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA). This was announced by Pakistan's Defence and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif on Friday in his post on social media platform X.
He said that it is a momentous day to announce that the European Commission and the EASA have lifted the suspension on PIA flights to Europe. The Aviation Minister maintained that it became possible due to the complete focus of the Aviation Ministry to strengthen the Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority and ensure safety oversight in line with International Civil Aviation Organization standards.
He thanked the European Commission and the EASA for conducting a transparent process and our commitment to ensure aviation safety in Pakistan. The Aviation Minister said that the lifting of suspension would help in privatization of Pakistan's national carrier.
After the lifting of a ban by EASA on the flights of Pakistan International Airlines, the airline's flight operation to the EU would be resumed soon. It may be recalled that EASA had banned PIA’s operation to Europe in 2020.
