EGYPT INTERPARLIAMENTARY FRIENDSHIP GROUP VISITS PARLIAMENT OF AZERBAIJAN
Visiting Azerbaijan, members of the Egypt-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group have today come to Azerbaijan’s Parliament building. They got acquainted with the meeting hall and the Heydar Aliyev Museum.
The visitors have met with members of the Milli Majlis’s Azerbaijan - Egypt parliamentary friendship group.
Head of the group Miri Ganbarov said the current state of friendship relations between the two countries are at a high level.
He said that the documents signed during national leader Heydar Aliyev’s and President Ilham Aliyev’s visits to Egypt had created a legal basis for further development of relations. Mr. Gambarov said the parliaments should take advantage of these opportunities to boost relationships.
He briefed the visitor on ongoing democratic processes in the country, saying Azerbaijan was the first country in the East to abolish capital punishment. According to him, freedoms of speech and conscience were ensured in Azerbaijan. He noted Azerbaijan contributes to the energy security of Europe by realizing global energy and transport projects in the region.
Chairman of the Egypt-Azerbaijan parliamentary friendship group Ahmad Omar Hashim extended greetings of Egypt’s President and leadership of the Parliament.
The Egyptian MP said his country supports Azerbaijan’s fair stance on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
The MPs also exchanged views on prospects of development of Inter-parliamentary ties, and activities of the friendship groups in this regard.
