EMBASSY OF BELGIUM OPENED IN AZERBAIJAN
FM of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov Monday met with the newly appointed ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium Frank Geerkens, who presented his credentials.
Opening of the Belgium embassy in Baku is of great importance for development of bilateral relations, the ambassador said, noting that he had earlier visited Azerbaijan with a Belgium official delegation. At the words of Ambassador, Belgium’s embassy in Azerbaijan is the first in region and is probably going to curate Georgia and the Central Asia, too.
Frank Geerkens updated on the current political situation in Belgium, noting that the coalition government was still not established in the country.
Elmar Mammadyarov highly appraised the opening of Belgium embassy in Azerbaijan, beanbag central point of the regional energy and transport projects, informed on rapid economic development in Azerbaijan.
The Minister said Azerbaijan is for stability and prosperity and is not interested that Armenia remained a poor, economically backward country, on the contrary, it would useful for Armenia, too, to refrain from aggressive policy and joined the regional development.
