EMBASSY OF EGYPT GIVES RECEPTION ON REVOLUTION DAY
The Embassy of the Arab Republic of Egypt in Azerbaijan hosted a reception on the occasion of the public holiday of this country, 23 July Revolution Day.
Speaking at the ceremony, Egyptian Ambassador Youssef Ahmad Ibrahim Al Sharkawi told of the path that Egypt has passed since the revolution, saying the country achieved a great progress for this period.
Diplomat said that the documents on cooperation signed and meetings held during President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev’s visit to Egypt in May this year contributed to friendly relations between the two countries.
Deputy chairman of the Milli Majlis Ziyafat Asgarov congratulated the people of Egypt on behalf of President Ilham Aliyev. He said cultural ties between the nations have existed from time immemorial. After Azerbaijan regained its independence, bilateral relations have seen a great progress. A number of important documents on the cultural and economic cooperation have been signed over recent years.
Z. Asgarov noted that Egypt was one of the first countries to recognize independence of Azerbaijan. According to him, the meetings President Ilham Aliyev had during his official visit to Egypt and documents signed gave a kick-start to bilateral relations.
Present at the reception were chiefs of departments at the Presidential Office Ali Hasanov and Novruz Mammadov, parliamentarians, foreign ambassadors and representatives of the public and press.
