First monkeypox vaccines on their way to the Democratic Republic of Congo
Rabat, Chouaib Brhadda, September 3, AZERTAC
When at a press conference in Geneva, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, Director-General of the World Health Organization, confirmed that the Democratic Republic of Congo received the promotions during the first vaccinations against the previous month.
According to AZERTAC news agency, based on a report from the Ministry of Global Health, Ghebreyesus said: "We hope that the first delivery will arrive in the coming days, at the same time as other vaccines are sent."
It is known that the re-emergence of monkeypox in Africa, particularly the new variant (1B), prompted the World Health Organization two weeks ago to decide to launch the highest level of global alert, after its spread to the Democratic Republic of Congo and 12 other countries, including Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda and Uganda.
It should be noted that monkeypox, caused by a virus, is a contagious disease that is transmitted to humans from infected animals, and it can also be transmitted between humans through close physical contact.
Symptoms of monkeypox include high temperature, muscle pain, rash, and ulcers.
