Floods 'worst in North Korea's history'

Typhoon Lionrock that hit North Korea earlier in the month has led to the worst floods in the history of the country, with hundreds dead and missing, said the country's public radio KCBS reports, according to Agencia EFE.
According to the broadcast, cited by South Korean media, North Korea's main radio station said the floods - which have especially battered North Hamyong province in the country's northeast - have displaced around 68,900 people and destroyed 11,600 buildings.
KCBS added around 180 sections of road and around 60 bridges have been damaged by water, calling it the worst disaster to hit the country since it gained freedom from Japanese colonial rule in 1945.
Lionrock pounded the country's Ryangang and North Hamgyong provinces between August 29 and September 2.
