Floods inundate 115 neighborhood units across Jakarta

Flooding submerged 115 neighborhood units across West, East and South Jakarta, with water levels ranging from 15 cm to 2.4 meters, the Jakarta Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) noted on Tuesday, according to Antara.
The flooding was triggered by heavy rainfall that caused several rivers to overflow, including Krukut, Grogol Mampang, Angke, Pesanggrahan, Keuangan, Mampang, and Ciliwung rivers, BPBD Jakarta Chief Marulitua Sijabat said.
As of Tuesday morning, floodwaters were still inundating 115 neighborhood units and four road sections across the affected areas, according to the latest data released by the agency.
Sijabat said the intense rainfall on Monday raised water levels at multiple monitoring posts, including Pesanggrahan (alert level 3) at 4 p.m. and Depok (alert level 3) at 5 p.m.
Water levels also rose at Angke Hulu, reaching alert level 3 at 5 p.m., then alert level 2 at 6 p.m., and later escalating to alert level 1 at 8 p.m., indicating worsening flood risks.
Additional increases were recorded at Pasar Ikan floodgate (alert level 2) at 7 p.m., Karet (alert level 3) at 7 p.m., Cipinang Hulu (alert level 3) at 8 p.m. and Sunter Hulu (alert level 3) at 8 p.m.
