FM OF AZERBAIJAN VISITING NEW YORK
As earlier informed, Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Elmar Mammadyarov is on a working visit to take part at the general debates of the 62nd session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York.
On October 1, Mr. Mammadyarov met with his counterparts from Ukraine, Mongolia, Uruguay and Costa-Rika.
Foreign Ministries of Azerbaijan and Uruguay has signed MoU on establishment of cooperation.
The recently to-be-opened Azerbaijan diplomatic mission in Argentina will also include Uruguay, FM said. Uruguay is also attracting for Azerbaijan as the headquarters of MERKOSUR trade organization. Elmar Mammadyarov updated his colleague on the current situation in region, large energy projects being implemented by Azerbaijan in the Caspian basin, the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The Uruguayan foreign minister invited Elmar Mammadyarov to visit his country.
On 1 October Mr. Elmar Mammadyarov gave interview to the UN TV, commenting the ongoing political and democratic reforms in the country, becoming of the non-oil sector a priority in the quickly developed economy of Azerbaijan, establishment of civil society, answered the questions on the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
The same day, FM of Azerbaijan took part at the coordination meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Community of Democracies, where discussed were issues of preparation of the 4th meeting of the foreign ministers due in Mali in November.
