FOREIGN MINISTER OF IRAN VISITED TURKMENISTAN
In his meeting with the president of Turkmenistan Saparmurat Niyazov, were focused issues of cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and culture.
“It is high time to make certain steps related to construction of the Turkmenistan-Iran oil pipeline”, the Turkmen President underlined.
The parties also centered defining of the legal status of the Caspian. It was noted that the pipeline would be available in the frame of interests of the five Caspian coastal countries. Therefore, the inter-state negotiations should be continues. In such meetings, the positions come closer and the Caspian turns to the factor of peace and stability in the region.
After the meeting, Kamal Kharrzi stated that his country is interested in transportation of Turkmen oil through Iran’s territory. As stated, goods turnover between the two counties now equals 500 million USD and there is opportunity to make up this figure one billion USD.
