GREECE EMBASSY ORGANIZES OFFICIAL RECEPTION IN BAKU
Embassy of Greece in Azerbaijan Tuesday organized an official reception on the occasion of the country’s national holiday in the Gulustan Palace of Baku.
The reception was attended by members of Azerbaijani Parliament, ministers, ambassadors of foreign countries in Baku and other officials.
In his remarks at the event Temistokles Dimidis, Greek Ambassador to Azerbaijan spoke about the importance of the revolution which started on March 25, 1821 and resulted in the establishment of modern Greece.
“Becoming a member of NATO at the beginning of 1950s and the European Union(EU) at the end of 1980s, Greece strengthened its position in Euro-Atlantic structures”, the Ambassador said.
Expressing his satisfaction with the expanded relations between Greece and Azerbaijan, the Ambassador stressed that his country supports Azerbaijan’s integration into Euro-Atlantic structures, as well as joining the European Neighborhood Policy.
According to the Ambassador, Greece highly values Azerbaijan’s successes gained in democracy building.
Valeh Alasgarov, Vice-Speaker of the Milli Majlis of Azerbaijan, congratulating the Greek nation on behalf of the President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev said “the documents signed between the two countries recently opened new opportunities for cooperation”.
He said Azerbaijan attaches great importance to cooperation with Greece.
