GUAM NATIONAL COORDINATORS’ MEETING WRAPS UP IN BAKU
7th meeting of the Organization for Economic Development and Democracy (GUAM) was held on 20-21 September in Baku.
At the meeting chaired by Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Araz Azimov, attending was the first deputy foreign minister of Georgia N. Vashakidze, representative of the national coordinator of Moldova S. Goncherenko, deputy foreign minister of Ukraine A. Veselovsky and Secretary General of GUAM V. Chechelashvil.
In Baku meeting, discussed were issues concerning the results of the Second Summit of GUAM (June, Baku), as well as questions on the agenda of 62nd session of UN General Assembly, including the clause on the frozen conflicts in GUAM countries, organizing the GUAM-USA, GUAM-Poland debates.
As recommended, the National Coordinators have to organize meetings with representatives of US Department of State in Washington, of the European Union in Brussels, of the foreign ministries of Poland and Japan in Warsaw and Tokyo. The member countries have to ratify By-Laws of GUAM.
It was proposed, in the framework of energy summit due on 10-11 October in Vilnius, the meeting of the GUAM heads of state dedicated to 10th anniversary of the Organization would be organized.
Next meeting of the Council of GUAM National Coordinators is expected in the second decade of November in Kiev.
