HEYDAR ALIYEV FOUNDATION PRESENTS NEW MUSIC ALBUM
Music album of prominent Azerbaijani composer and pianist Rafig Babayev was presented Friday in the Heydar Aliyev Foundation in Baku.
The album consists of a book that deals with the composer’s life and works, 8 CD including his compositions and 2 DVD including videotapes.
The Foundation-prepared album was devoted to the memory of Rafig Babayev who was killed in a terrorist act in the Baku subway committed by Armenians on March 19, 1994, and other victims of armenian aggression and terror.
The ceremony attended by Azerbaijani cultural workers and officials started with the demonstration of a documentary about Rafig Babayev.
Speaking at the event, Mehriban Aliyeva, initiator of the project, President of the Heydar Aliyev Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO Goodwill Ambassador, MP said: “Rafig Babayev was a composer who had brought distinctive look to Azerbaijan’s music in 60-70s of the 20th century. His works are well-known not only in Azerbaijan, but also abroad. I think this album will have significant role to protect and popularize Rafig Babayev’s heritage”.
Mentioning Rafig Babyev’s tragic death in a terrorist act, Mrs. Aliyeva notified 32 terror acts were committed by Armenian terrorist organizations in the early 90s as a result of which over 2 thousands poeple were killed.
“The Heydar Aliyev Foundation published numerous documents exposing Armenia’s aggression policy against Azerbaijan. These documents expose the policy of ethnic cleansing pursued by Armenians against Azerbaijanis, Khojaly tragedy and other terrible facts” emphasized M. Aliyeva.
Mehriban Aliyeva also said “presenting this music album we are commemorating the memory of not only Rafig Babayev, but all innocent people who became the victims of Armenian terror”.
Farziyya Babayeva, the composer’s daughter expressed her gratitude to Mehriban Aliyeva for her noble initiative.
