Hungary: All about the a dal semi-finals for ESC 2014
Baku, February 15 (AZERTAC). This upcoming weekend, the semi-final stage of the Hungarian national selection, A Dal 2014, is set to commence.
The Hungarian public broadcaster MTVA has announced the line-up of the two national semi-finals that will be broadcast on Saturday and Sunday this weekend, at 20:24 CET.
The two semi-finals will be streamed live on the official A Dal 2014 website.
Previously, three quarter finals took place on the preceding Saturdays, and in each of them, six acts qualified for the semi-final stage.
In each show, two contestants will be selected by the jury and two more contestants will be voted in via televoting. Thus a total of eight contestants will proceed to next week's final.
In the final the jury will give their opinions as usual, but only reveal their scores after the last performance. The viewers will have the final say: they can vote for their favourite among the 4 highest rated productions. The contestant with the highest number of votes will represent Hungary this year.
The on screen jury will feature Magdi Rúzsa, who represented Hungary in the 2007 Eurovision Song Contest, Jenő Csizsár and Philip Rákay. Kati Kovács, a popular singer and true star of the Hungarian music scene, will join them.
Hungary has participated in the Eurovision Song Contest eleven times. The country's first entry would have been Andrea Szulák's in 1993 but a qualification round was just installed for former Eastern Bloc countries and she did not manage to qualify to the Grand Final. The first real participation was of Friderika Bayer in 1994. After three rounds of voting the Hungarian entry had taken the top marks each time and was in contention to win.
