INTERIOR MINISTRIES OF AZERBAIJAN AND RUSSIA CONDUCT CROSS-BORDER OPERATIONS
In accordance with the plan of joint actions, Interior Ministries of Azerbaijan and Russia conducted cross-border search operations titled “Border” between March 25 and 30.
The primary intent of the operation is to fulfill decisions adopted on May 27, 2007 at the meeting of delegations of the two countries` Interior Ministries. The decisions dealt with cross-border cooperation, conducting operations to apprehend members of transnational organized criminal and terrorist groupings, and cutting off the channels of financing weapons and drugs smuggling.
Special operations were conducted in the territories of Gakh, Balaken, Zagatala, SHeki, Gusar, Oguz, KHachmaz and Gabala regions.
Operations resulted in detaining 14 wanted persons including suspected for premeditated murder Orkhan Dadashev who had been searched by the Police Department of the Binagadi district and three suspects wanted by Russia. They also found many weapons and ammunition.
