INT’L JUDO TOURNAMENT WRAPS UP IN BAKU
The 30th international judo tournament among the juveniles of 1991-1992, in memory of the twice hero of the Soviet Union, Major-General Hazi Aslanov ended in Abu Arena Complex.
The event brought together the 146 athletes from Azerbaijan, Turkey, Georgia, Greece and Russia.
In men’s section, Azerbaijan judoists Alakbar Guliyev (46kg), Dilgam Aliyev (50kg), Rauf Aliyev (55kg), Rashid Mammadov (60kg), Sarkhan Ahmadov (66kg), Pasha Nabizade (73kg), Shahin Gahramanov (90kg), Farid Babayev ( over 90 kg) and Georgia’s athlete Nikolor Epitashvili (81kg) mounted the highest step on the podium.
In women’s section, Melten Akchay (36kg, Turkey), Turkan Aslanova (40kg, Azerbaijan), Aisha Gurbanli (44kg, Azerbaijan), Gunlazi Tinikashvili (48kg, Georgia), Natiya Rostomashvili (52kg, Georgia), Maryam Taruashvili ( 57kg, Georgia), Maryam Ogriashvili (63kg, Georgia), Salome Tsotkalavri (70kg, Georgia) and Maryam Vardanashvili (over 70 kg) grabbed the gold medals.
Azerbaijan ranked first in the team event, while Georgia and Turkey the 2nd and 3rd respectively.
