Italy expresses relief at Israel-Iran ceasefire

Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani on Tuesday expressed relief at the US-brokered ceasefire agreed by Israel and Iran and said Italy was willing to host peace talks in Rome, according to ANSA.

"I have also offered Rome as a meeting place, as happened twice between Oman, Iran and the United States (for talks on Tehran's nuclear programme)," Tajani told Mediaset television.

"We will now see what happens.

The positive news is that there is this ceasefire, which I hope will be respected.

"This enables us to breathe a sigh of relief, including for our fellow Italian citizens who live in that part of the world".
