Kingdom of Bahrain to chair Asian Parliamentary Assembly until 2026

“The Islamic Republic of Iran and the Kingdom of Bahrain have submitted their candidacies for the chairmanship of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) in 2026-2027, both of which were endorsed by the Executive Secretariat and the APA leadership. Thus, the Kingdom of Bahrain will chair APA until 2026, while the Islamic Republic of Iran will preside over the Assembly in 2027-2028. Iran will also serve as vice-president of the APA Standing Committee,” said Rizvan Nabiyev, Head of the Azerbaijani Parliamentary delegation to the APA, during the 15th plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly (APA) held in Baku.
According to him, the issues related to the return of 300,000 IDPs to their homes are in the spotlight at the plenary session of the Asian Parliamentary Assembly: “APA reiterates its support for the policy of peace and stability in this regard and will continue its efforts to implement relevant measures.”
Nabiyev provided an overview of the APA’s activities across various fields in 2024-2025. "APA reaffirms its commitment to enhancing regional peace and cooperation, as well as resolving conflicts through diplomatic means," he underlined.
