Latvian delegation tours Shusha and Khankendi to view reconstruction efforts

A Latvian delegation led by Minister of Agriculture Armands Krauze, visiting Azerbaijan to attend the 9th meeting of the Azerbaijan–Latvia Intergovernmental Commission on Economic, Scientific-Technical and Cultural Cooperation, toured Shusha and Khankendi to observe ongoing reconstruction efforts.
The delegation first visited Shusha’s central square, the Shusha Carpet Museum, the Ashaghi Govhar Agha Mosque, the New Residential Complex, and the Jidir Duzu Plain.
Aydin Karimov, Special Representative of the President of Azerbaijan in the Shusha district, briefed the delegation on the city’s history, the period of occupation, and the ongoing reconstruction carried out under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev and First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva. He noted that restoration efforts are based on Shusha’s architectural heritage and national values.
The delegation also visited Victory Park and Victory Square in Khankendi, where Adviser Gasim Ibrahimov provided information on the city’s history, the occupation period, the liberation of the territories, and the ongoing large-scale reconstruction. He emphasized that Victory Park symbolizes Azerbaijan’s victory in the 44-day Patriotic War and the restoration of the country’s territorial integrity.
The participants also observed the extensive reconstruction and restoration efforts underway in Khankendi within the framework of the “Great Return” State Program. It was noted that reconstruction is progressing rapidly across all liberated territories of Azerbaijan, including Shusha and Khankendi.
