MEETING OF CIS INFORMATION COUNCIL WRAPS UP IN MOSCOW
The 2-day meeting of the Council of the CIS State Information Agencies established on the initiative of the Commonwealth Executive Committee wrapped up in Moscow, 2 November.
The main event of day at session became acceptance of the Appeal made by AZERTAC to journalistic community to show correctness during covering the events mentioning religious feelings of people of Commonwealth, and also tolerant consciousness and behaviour and peaceable disposition. In the Appeal, it is also condemned any forms of display of vandalism, aggression, terrorism, bringing to peoples incalculable disasters.
Along with this, discussed were issues of exchange of views on emergency situations of natural and man-caused character, the working plan of Information Council of CIS for 2008, as well as prospects of cooperation of the national news agencies. Information was made on work of the CIS Association of National News Agencies and forming of ANIA information service, realization of the documents accepted under initiative of the CIS Information Council, creation of information portal of Commonwealth. A number of other questions representing mutual interest were also considered.
The participants adopted final document.
Heads and representatives of Council of the CIS State Information Agencies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Moldova, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Armenia attended the meeting.
Next meeting of the CIS Information Council will be held in October 2008 in Kishinev.
