MEETING WITH REPRESENTATIVES OF RUSSIAN COMMUNITY OF AZERBAIJAN
The chief negotiator - the vice-president of the Council of Federation Svetlana Orlova informed that they represent the Upper Chamber of the Russian Parliament in structure of one representative from legislature, one - from executive and has presented members of delegation: Azerbaijani Farhad Ahmadov – single Azerbaijani in the Upper Chamber of the Council of Federation representing Krasnodar Oblast, and also members of the Commission of the Duma on Azerbaijan, representatives from Belarus, Tajikistan, Kazakhstan.
S. Orlova has noted that this year is the “Year of Azerbaijan” in Russia. In February, it is expected visit of President Vladimir Putin to Azerbaijan. “We want to improve both cultural, and economic relations. We are also connected by hundred thousand of Azerbaijanis living in 70 regions of Russia, - she has emphasized.
The vice-president of Russian community of Azerbaijan Victor Tatarenko has told, that now in Azerbaijan live 170 thousand Russians. The people of Azerbaijan always differed with its ethnic and religious tolerance. The Russian language is studied at schools and high schools, theatres, the cultural centers function, the number of newspapers and magazines in Russian grows, and there are two channels of the Russian TV.
Visitors were interested in participation in preparation for elections in Milli Majlis of the Azerbaijan Republic and number of delegates from Russian community and national minorities, have expressed gratitude to President Ilham Aliyev for interest and support of Russian community. It was marked that recently V. Putin has signed the Decree about creation in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia of the Department on Work with Compatriots Abroad that will allow solving many problems.
