Mexico breaks ground for monument to genius Azeri poet
Baku, October 28 (AZERTAC). A groundbreaking ceremony for the monument to genius Azerbaijani poet Nizami Ganjavi was held in Acapulco, Mexico as a part of the celebration of the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan`s independence .
According to the Azerbaijan Embassy in Mexico, the ceremony brought together Ambassador Ilgar Mukhtarov, Minister of Tourism Development of the States of Guerrero Juan Salgado, Social Development Minister of Acapulco Oscar Rangel Miravete, representatives of diplomatic corps and local community.
Officials of the States of Guerrero and Acapulco made speeches in the ceremony. The speakers expressed their confidence that Nizami Ganjavi`s monument would become one of the future symbols of the city.
Azerbaijan Embassy`s initiative was appreciated highly and the Azerbaijan street will be inaugurated in Acapulco soon.
Manu Donvier provided information on Nizami Ganjavi`s life and creative activity. He stressed Azeri poet`s works contributed not only Azerbaijani literature, but also the world literature and philosophy.
Mr. Mukhtarov thanked the government and residents of the state of Guerrero and Acapulco on behalf of the Azerbaijani government for the attention to the activity of the great poet and philosopher Nizami Ganjavi.
Azerbaijani dancers, who came to Mexico to participate in the La Nao festival, also attended the ceremony.
