Further Mr. Mardanov said: “After gaining independence in 1991, first of all, has arisen necessity for new preparation for short time on the basis of national values of all programs, textbooks, manuals and materials and their edition on just accepted alphabet with Latin script. The serious damage to education also was caused with aggression of Armenia against Azerbaijan. On occupied territories, it has been destroyed about 1000 educational institutions, and 115 thousand pupils and approximately 16 thousand teachers became refugees and IDPs”.
The Minister informed that according to the program of construction of the schools, directed on improvement of the quality of general secondary education and creation of equal conditions for all children, in 1998-2005 it has been constructed more than 330 new school buildings, according to the “Program of poverty reduction and economic development” for last three years, pupils of all classes of secondary schools have been free-of-charge provided with textbooks, created equal conditions for education. The schools are computerized.
Now, due to the credit allocated by the World Bank in Azerbaijan the Project of development of the education sector, covering 2003-2007, is being carried out. These projects are carried out basically on components of the quality of general education and conformity to its real needs, efficiency and financial reforms, management, planning and monitoring”.
During the visit, it was decided to carry out the first session of Working Group in December of this year in Baku.
