MOLDOVA ANNOUNCES SANCTIONS AGAINST DNIESTER REGION
The sanctions have been determined in a resolution adopted by a special meeting of the Moldovan Cabinet on Thursday.
The Moldovan government press service told Itar-Tass the document has been adopted in fulfillment of the decision of the Supreme Security Council with the Moldovan president in the head.
The Council instructed the Customs department of the country to suspend starting from August 1 issuance of documents for export cargoes sent by those economic agents of the Dniester region who have no relations with the state budget of Moldova.
The Moldovan Transport and Communication Ministry and the Moldovan Railway state enterprise will suspend providing carriages for goods of the Dniester enterprises having no tax relations with the Moldovan budget.
At the same time it is pointed out in the text of the resolution, “If Tiraspol ensures normalization of the situation in the security zone, free movement of citizens, goods and services across the region, as well as provides the possibility to work normally to Moldovan schools on the left bank of the Dniester by the specified term, the sanctions will not be introduced.”
In July Dniester region authorities closed four out of six Moldovan schools the administrations of which refused to register in the unrecognized republic.
In retaliation for that Chisinau suspended its participation in the Dniester settlement talks and threatened to introduce economic sanctions against Tiraspol from August 1.
